A recipe for an astringent gargle to treat a fallen palate.
Astringent Gargle
½ an once of oak Bark boil it
in a pint of Water ¼ of an hour
Strain it & add 2 drams of Allum
& 4 onces of Red port use it
every 3 hours in cases of relacation
of the palate or fallen down of it
