For Cleaning Tables
4 Pennyworth of Alkanet root
2 Pennyworth of Rose Pink
A pint of cold drawn linseed oil
Mix this in a Earthend Pan let
it remain all Night, then rub
some of it over your Tables
with a linnen Rag & when it has

has lain some time rub it up
with a rag if the Tables are
Dirty wash them Clean with
Vinegar before you use it

Of the borage family, the root of alkanna tinctorial was used as a red dye to colour to wine, alcoholic tinctures, vegetable oils, varnishes, and cosmetics (lipstick and rouge) and to treat abscesses and inflammation.
