      Recipe for preventing the Fly in Turnips.
  Take the quantity of two-penny worth of horse
aloes, and the same quantity of flour of brimstone;
dissolve these well in about three or four quarts of
water. Before the Turnip seed is sown, throw it into
the prepared water, for about an hour, but no longer.
This quantity of prepared water will steep five or six
pounds of seed. If a large quantity of seed is required
to be sown, increase the ingredients in the above pro-
proportion  There is no occasion to use the prepara-
tion in a wet season, as it is only in very dry season
that the Fly appears.
