A method for dying silk pasted in the pages of a book of Militia Regulations.
Dip the silk first in the logwood [dogwood] dye & then
in Allum Water, then rinse it well in Salt Water,
& disolve an Ounce of Gum Arabic in a little water
and dip it all in, dry it slowly in the House &
Iron it quickly.
