A cure for scurvy.
CURE FOR THE SCURVY
From an English Magazine.
A Correspondent who has known the fol-
lowing simple receipt to cure the ob-
stinate SCURVY, is desirous of commu-
nicating it to the public, for the benefit of
those who may be afflicted with that dread-
ful complaint.
Put an equal quantity of cream of tartar
and flour of sulphur into a vessel, and then
pour in boiling water; keep it covered for
one night. The patient, if an adult, must
drink half a pint every morning fasting,
and, if not disagreeable, the same quanti-
ty at night when going to bed. Though
the patient were almost a leper our cor-
respondent pledges himself, a few weeks
observance will effect a cure. A quarter of
a pound of cream of tartar and the same
quantity of sulphur, will be sufficient for
two gallons of water.
