For a Canker--
(said to have been purchased of its
Discoverer in Charlestown, South
Carolina, by the Provincial Le=
=gislature)
Burn a good quantity of Holly leaves,
to ashes, & pulverize them well--
add an equal quantity of powdered
allum: mix them and with a soft
Rag rub them on the sore twice a day
Then take an ounce of salt and an
ounce of allum; dissolve them over
the fire in a Pint and a half of water,
and therewith wash the powder out
of the sore a quarter of an hour
after it is dressed.
Remark--an oddly worded and
no very scientific Prescription.
