Instructions for using alkali to treat gout or rheumatism, p. 78.
Dissolve about two ounces of the mineral Alkali in
about a Quart of Water. Take a Wine Glass full of
Solution four or five times in twenty four hour
The alkaline Substance forms a mild compound w[ith]
the redundant phosphoric Acid in the habit, whic[h]
is castred off by the ordinary Evacuations removing
thereby insensibly the pain of the Gout or Rheumatism
in a few Days.
