Rx  1The same recipe for Elixir Foetidum, without the comment about opium or the unidentified word after Castoreum, is found in Pharmacopoea Svecica, Third Edition (1784), 70, https://books.google.ca/books?id=CaZdAAAAcAAJ&pg. Other words that appear after genitive Cast[orei] are recentis or pulveris, neither of which appear indicated here. Cast.             Stinking Elixir
Recipe: Castoreum [Riss?],  ½ ounce. Gum of asafoetida, 3 drams. Opium, ½ dram. Salt of hartshorn, 1 dram. Spirit of rectified wine, 4 ounces. Let sit for four days and strain through a cloth.

Stinking Elixir contains one grain of opium in 3½ teaspoons.
